Lorde Teases LP3 As ‘Melodrama’ Turns 2

The album that gave us “Green Light” and “Perfect Places” just turned two, but after a long silence Lorde is looking ahead!

“Royals” and “Team” singer Lorde doesn’t share a lot on social media these days. She scrubbed her accounts prior to Melodrama in 2017, and she only posted a handful of times since. But she’ll throw up some Instagram Stories on occasion, and that’s what she did over the weekend.

Apparently Melodrama came out two years ago today.. Want to say thankyou for how you took that record and made it your own. Swells my damn heart thinking about your love for it and your willingness to go there with me and to dance the way we did together. The day it came out i did a jigsaw puzzle all day in my hotel room in NY. I felt so emptied, i didn’t really know yet that you make a record and get filled up, and then releasing it empties you.. and slowly fills you up again. I was such a baby making that work, lots of emotions and learning so much al lthe time. Feels like i’ve grown a lot since then, i’ve been to antarctica, i have a dog now and a cat and i can bake bread and cook dinner and keep plants alive etc. It’s a good life you’ve give me. Thankyou thankyou. Third one in the oven. L xx xxx x x xx x x

Love to jack forever and ever. And laura who was always there.

Did you catch that bit towards the end of the paragraph? “Third one in the oven.” So happy to know she’s working on it. The shout out to fun./Bleachers dude and Melodrama producer Jack Antonoff is also a nice touch.

Although Lorde didn’t match the inescapable success of those big hits from her Pure Heroine debut, Melodrama showed significant growth for an artist thrust so quickly into the limelight as a teenager. And I caught her prime-time Saturday night set at Governors Ball in 2017. Try telling any of those thousands of fans that Melodrama somehow came up short – because when Lorde played “Green Light” that place straight-up erupted.

Ahead of her third album – whenever it arrives – Lorde is just 22. She has a lifetime of music ahead of her, and we’re here for it.
