This one’s for the Skeleton Clique! Twenty One Pilots are the first artist to achieve this incredible feat in the streaming era.
The RIAA just awarded Tyler and Josh a gold record for Vessel deep cut “Fake You Out”. Why is this important?
Because for the first time in music history, every song from two albums by the same artist earned a gold record! It’s never happened before!
Back in March 2018, Blurryface became the first album to celebrate this achievement.
Prior to the streaming era, the RIAA awarded gold records to albums or singles that reached 500,000. In 2016, RIAA began counting song streams toward award certification and created a formula that combined physical and digital sales with stream consumption. Approximately 150 streams counts as a single sale or “equivalent unit”. 1500 streams counts as 10 tracks or one whole album.

With streaming now the biggest method of music listening, other artists will likely follow in twenty one pilots’ footsteps. But the Clique will always remember they got Tyler and Josh there first!
