On the heels of every song from two Twenty One Pilots albums reaching gold, “Stressed Out” and “Heathens” each hit some additional lofty milestones.
Last month, Tyler and Josh became the first artists to receive gold records for every song off of two albums. Not to be outdone, two of their most popular songs earned some additional accolades.
Their first megahit from the Blurryface era, “Stressed Out”, is now eight times platinum.
And “Heathens” from the Suicide Squad soundtrack just earned its seventh platinum award.
Most simply put, the RIAA certifies songs or albums as platinum for selling one million copies. These days, they use a formula that combines traditional physical or digital media sales with streams.
The RIAA also has a diamond certification level. That’s a song or album that sells TEN million copies. “Stressed Out” is almost there. Only 49 songs have ever done it.
