While blink-182 teases a collaboration with Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert, Tom DeLonge weighs in on what blink should be doing instead.
Blink-182 shared news just a few weeks ago that their new album Nine would arrive September 20. But another random project is already heading down the pike!
Another Blink EP will follow Nine at some point! At about the 7:55 mark, Mark Hoppus talks about the EP and mentions a track with Pharrell and Lil Uzi Vert!
To recap for those who don’t know… Pharrell is the prolific artist/producer involved with megahits like “Happy” and “Uptown Funk” just to name a few, not to mention genre-bending act N*E*R*D. And Lil Uzi Vert rose from the emo-rap/Soundcloud rap world where a lot of artists say they’re influenced by emo and pop-punk in general and bands like Blink in particular.
Of course, this news is just the latest mashup between blink-182 and the rhythmic world. Their tour with Lil Wayne rolls through KC on September 8 at Providence Amp.

As for erstwhile Blink member Tom DeLonge, he imagines his next Angels & Airwaves album sounds like blink-182 if he had stuck around.
“I said a while ago that the new Angels & Airwaves record would sound a bit like what I envisioned blink would sound like in the future… A lot of punk-rock music is we start this way, we end this way and it’s very one-sound, one-tone, whereas Angels & Airwaves ramps you up, explodes, drops you down, then ramps you back up and then something big at the end. It’s a different architecture altogether.”
