Between Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong tagging Pete Wentz and Rivers Cuomo on Insta and all the merch and URLs, something’s up.
UPDATE: The tour is real and it’s NOT coming to KC.
Eagle-eyed fans happened to catch Billie Joe Armstrong’s comment on one of actor Rainn Wilson’s Instagram posts in which the Green Day frontman tagged Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy. The message shared over the weekend simply read, “hella mega”. That lead to some internet sleuthing, which uncovered the password-protected website, HellaMegaTour.com, as well as several social media accounts with the same handle. Why is Rainn Wilson’s character from The Office Dwight Schrute involved? Your guess is as good as mine.
If that isn’t enough to convince people an announcement of sorts is on the way, tour merch featuring the bands displaying mismatched logos and photos are starting to appear on the internet.
Just read a rumor of a Green Day / Weezer / Fall Out Boy tour called Hella Mega. Pics below of mismatched merch showing up at people’s houses, a comment on a Rainn Wilson Instagram post, & a handbill.
