When You Can Stream Foo Fighters, Rise Against, And More At Save Our Stages Fest

UPDATE: The festival schedule is here!

Some of the biggest names in rock, country, rock, and hip hop are teaming up to help raise money for independent music venues hit hard by the pandemic. Obviously, without concerts these places can’t make any money. So dozens of artists have joined forces for the Save Our Stages Festival. The artists will record their performances at different venues around the U.S. Then, you’ll be able to see them all during the Save Our Stages festival on YouTube October 16-18.

Rock-relevant artists who signed up to participate include Foo Fighters, Portugal. The Man, Rise Against, Dave Matthews, Black Pumas, Nathaniel Rateliff, and The Revivalists. Click here for the full lineup which also includes some big names from the worlds of country, pop, and hip hop. Save Our Stages Fest will benefit members of NIVA – The National Independent Venue Association. NIVA represents over 2,000 indie venues across America including dozens in the greater Kansas City metro.

NIVA had already gathered bipartisan support for financial relief measures included in various stimulus proposals over the past few months. Now these 2,000+ venues have to sit and wait for financial assistance alongside millions of American people and businesses after President Trump’s announcement to halt all coronavirus stimulus negotiations until he wins the election. The greater KC area has been lucky thus far not to permanently lose many of its precious and unique independent venues. Every time this relief stalls, our city’s venues and promoters draw closer to closure.

To learn more about the crisis facing America’s indie concert venues, check out this recent episode of the Sound Opinions podcast. They speak with some NIVA members and Senators Amy Klobuchar and Chuck Schumer who support the $10 billion Save Our Stages relief bill.
